Structured Cabling Technician

As a Structured Cabling Technician, you will play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and testing of structured cabling systems and data racks. Working primarily in two-person teams, you will be responsible for executing daily tasks efficiently, maintaining open communication with Project Managers, and upholding the highest standards of customer service and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Maintenance

  • Install J-hooks and pull cables according to project specifications.
  • Build and establish pathways for cabling, including conduit setup and wall fishing.
  • Construct and install telecommunications closets and data racks.
  • Terminate and test faceplates, patch panels, and ensure proper labeling.
  • Perform fusion splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.
  • Terminate high-pair copper backbone cables.
  • Sleeve walls for conduit protection.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with Project Managers, Electricians, HVAC technicians, General Contractors, Architects, and Customers to ensure project alignment and timely completion.

Customer Relations

  • Maintain professionalism and transparency in all customer interactions to build lasting relationships.
  • Conduct end-of-day walk-throughs to clean and organize the work area, ensuring a tidy site at the end of each shift.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in installing and terminating various types of cables, including fiber optic and copper, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling pathways, conduit installations, and data rack configurations.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, particularly in multi-trade environments.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining safety protocols and delivering high-quality workmanship.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, lifts, or scaffolding.
  • Willingness to work in diverse environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Daily travel to job sites required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.
